While traveling Sanibel Island, Florida on a recent photo trip to Ding Darling Preserve, with it’s beautiful homes and manicured lawns, I happened upon this lonely, abandoned cottage almost hidden amongst the cabbage palms. I stopped for a closer inspection and found all the windows had been broken out long ago, exposing the interior to the wind and weather. Amazingly, the one exception was the front glass door - perfectly framing the Flag  -- a little tired and a little faded, but still standing tall - still standing proud…
